On 10 August 2008 have started the works for the construction of the 130 km double-track railway line connecting Oued Tlélat with Tlemcen, in Algeria, complete with electrification, signal and telecommunication facilities.
This project, which will be carried out by a joint venture between Rizzani de Eccher and Condotte, represents the first section of the new electrified double-track railway. A 200 km linen which on completion will stretch from Oued Tlélat until the border with Morocco. Beside the effort connected with the peculiar orographical features of the railway layout and the consequent great number of infrastructure works involved (31 bridges and viaducts and three tunnels), the scope of work also includes the reconstruction of three railway stations, for a total contract amount of Euro 1,2 billion.
