he construction of the “Shell & Core” part of a new office building in Moscow city centre, “Ducat Plaza 3”, is approaching completion. The $ 40 million contract was awarded to Codest International at the beginning of 2004 by Hines International, one of the major American developers operating on Moscow real estate market.
This building, the third commissioned by Hines to Codest over the last 10 years, was designed by Skidmore, Owens & Merrill (S.O.M.) - the famous American architectural and engineering firm, and will be a particularly prestigious thanks to its strategic location and to the importance of its prestige tenants (Goldman Sachs, Bank of Tokyo, Citibank, European Bank for Reconstruction, Fit Tradings, Cushman Wakefield, etc.).
The total built-up area is 54,000 m2, distributed on 14 above-ground floors and three underground parking floors. The building, for which the top-down construction method was used (which enables erection work to be undertaken above ground while construction work underground is going on), set an example in Moscow, where this innovative technology has already been applied for the construction of other important buildings.
