Rizzani de Eccher, with a 50% share in a joint venture with Snc Lavalin, was awarded the Euro 230 million contract to construct the Canada Line of Vancouver light rail transit system (9 km elevated line that will connect the city with its International airport and with the town of Richmond).
The Customer isSnc Lavalin itself, which was awarded by Intransit BC Ltd Partnership the design, construction and commissioning of the entire project.
This project consists of the construction of about 2 km of line running on elevated embankments and 7 km of elevated line, with 36 m long spans made up of prefabricated segments, a cable-stayed bridge 580 m long with a 180 m main span, and a balanced cantilever bridge 380 m long with 96 m long spans.
Construction started in November 2005 and is scheduled for completion by October 2008.
The Rizzani de Eccher in house engineering department shall develop the detail workshop design for the whole project, with the exclusion of the cable-stayed bridge only.
