Over the month of September 2009, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (a unit of BNP Paribas) has awarded Rizzani de Eccher S.p.A., in association with Esiet S.p.A., an MEP contractor from Bergamo, the Euro 15.4 million contract for the restoration, recovery and rehabilitation of one of its flagship buildings in the San Fedele square, in the heart of Milan’s historical centre.
The project includes tearing down and emptying the interior volumes, the erection of new slabs, the complete reorganization and finishing of the interiors with quality flooring, partitions and false ceilings. The building is to be completely retrofitted to meet the most stringent rules concerning seismic resilience, fire-protection, thermal/acoustic insulation and ease of access for the impaired.
The existing glass dome is to be removed and replaced by a new structure, which will nevertheless preserve the original aesthetical features. The roof shall be completely rebuilt and the attic will host exhibition areas.
