07/09/2021

TELT (Tunnel Euroalpin Lyon Turin), a Franco-Italian company responsible for the realization and management of the cross-border section of the new Lyon – Turin railway connection, has awarded Lot 3, concerning the works of the 57.5-km-long Mont Cenis base tunnel, to the Joint Venture led by Implenia in partnership with Rizzani de Eccher, NGE and Itinera.
The total contract amount is 228 million euros, and the project is in line with the company’s strategic focus on major and complex infrastructure projects.
This section starts from the entrance of the 4-km-long Villard-Clément tunnel. The works include the artificial tunnel at Saint-Julien-Montdenis and related structures, as well as construction of the future structures for the base tunnel.
The project is highly complex and will require all the experience and skills in the various civil engineering and tunneling techniques. The Joint Venture won on the basis of the technical optimizations made during the tender phase, thus obtaining the highest score in the evaluation of the technical solution.
Rizzani de Eccher is proud to be participating in the design and construction of such an important part of the future European railway network and in a project like this we can demonstrate our extensive experience in the realization of major infrastructures.
Major project of European mobility
The cross-border section of the new Lyon-Turin line with the Mont Cenis base tunnel becomes the central ring of the Mediterranean corridor, one of the nine axes of the European transport network TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network), which stretches over 3,000 km and connects seven European corridors from east to west. It will considerably enhance the displacement of the transported goods from road to rail with a significant impact on the environment while saving about 40% of energy.
