RIZZANI DE ECCHER WILL BUILD A BRIDGE USING STRUCTURAL TIMBER IN NORWAY, SETTING A NEW BENCHMARK ON SUSTAINABILITY.
09/07/2020

On 7 September 2020 the Norwegian Road Authority Nye Veier and the Joint Venture BERINOR ANS, associating Rizzani de Eccher and Besix, signed the contract for the design and further development of the E6 Moelv-Roterud infrastructure project. The project includes the construction of a bridge spanning more than 1 km and an 11-km section of four-lane motorway over Lake Mjosa, the largest lake in Norway located in the southern part of the country, about 100 km from Oslo.
The bridge construction concept will make it the longest in the world to use structural timber and will set a new benchmark for the use of sustainable materials in infrastructure projects.
Sustainability aspects, including limited gas emissions and landscape integration, are amongst the primary objectives of both the Norwegian Road Authority and the Joint Venture.
